On Saturday, August 6, 2016, a balmy summer afternoon, ANDY COWAN & THE NINA BECK TRIO performed Andy's swingin' interpretations of American Songbook swing and Latin classics, jazz, and blues, and Andy's catchy parodies for the Shoreline Village Seaside Summer Concert Series, Long Beach. Local residents and tourists visiting this popular spot enjoyed our music, just as we enjoyed entertaining them! This was our 6th return engagement.
For bookings, please contact anthrosop@aol.com (Andy), &/or jazzlady1028@yahoo.com (Nina). Thank you!
Vocalist Andy Cowan with Jeff Stern, drums and Mel Steinberg, sax - "Every Day I Have The Blues"
...Vocalist & hand percussionist ANDY COWAN, an award-winning writer/performer (Seinfeld, Cheers, 3rd Rock From the Sun) profiled in Who's Who in America, has been wowing audiences in jazz clubs and special events throughout Los Angeles (and radio and TV) for over two decades, beginning with his breakthrough performance of "Sinatra" singing pop and rock songs of the '80s, accompanied by Jack Sheldon, Plas Johnson, and the rest of the stellar Mort Lindsey Orchestra on The Merv Griffin Show.
Nailing the sound and intelligence of Sinatra and Tony Bennett like no other group out there, Andy's groups are more than a Frank Sinatra tribute band, and succeed by making the music their own. For swinging interpretations of the classic American Songbook and jazz standards, scatting, comedic parodies, tasty originals, and even a blues rendition of an Oscar-winning Dylan tune, club and special event audiences seek out this group and keep coming back for more.
